The Mirai has standard Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats (WIL), which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the WIL system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Air doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Mirai has standard Safety Connect™, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Air doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Mirai and the Air have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Mirai for 1 year and 11000 miles longer than Lucid Motors pays for maintenance for the Air (3/35000 vs. 2/24,000).

There are almost 62 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Mirai’s warranty.

The Mirai can travel longer on a full tank of hydrogen than the Air Pure 20" Wheels RWD on a full charge (402 miles vs. 372 miles).

The Mirai stops shorter than the Air:

The Toyota Mirai may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 1100 pounds less than the Lucid Motors Air.

The Mirai has .7 inches more front legroom and .1 inches more front shoulder room than the Air.

With its sedan body style, valet key and remote trunk release lockout, the Mirai offers cargo security. The Air’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Mirai. The Air doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Mirai Limited has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Air doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the Mirai the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Toyota service department.) The driver of the Air can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Mirai’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Air’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Mirai Limited offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Air doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
